Do achievements still unlock in Infinite mode?
Infinite removes the item slot limit; the stated price is that most achievements stop counting.
Quick Answer
Most achievements are disabled in Infinite mode. The developer describes this as deliberate: Infinite has no item slot limit, so it is kept optional and most achievements are switched off there to preserve a reason to play the other modes.
Steps
- Use Infinite when you want to stack items without a slot cap and watch a build run away with itself.
- Switch to Endurance, or any other mode, for any run where an achievement is the point.
- If an achievement fails to fire after a long Infinite run, check the mode before reporting it as a bug.
Requirements / Limits
- Infinite is built on the Endurance wave definition, so its wave structure is inherited rather than separate.
- There is no item slot limit in Infinite; the developer's own example is equipping 89 items.
- The published wording is 'most achievements are disabled', not all. No list of which ones survive has been published.
- Two items, the Wooden Stick and the Empty Chest, were retuned when Infinite shipped so that they count empty item slots only up to eight.
- Infinite is unlocked per arena by reaching 30 minutes in Endurance on that arena, which is a separate question from whether achievements count.
Common Mistakes
- Farming a long Infinite run for achievement progress. That is the one mode where the developer says progress is mostly switched off.
- Reading 'most achievements are disabled' as 'all achievements are disabled'. The developer chose the weaker word and never expanded on it.
- Confusing Infinite with Endurance. Endurance is the challenge mode that spawns an increasing number of Elite Bosses every five to ten minutes after the twenty-minute mark.
