Can I slow the game down, or turn on a minimap?
Three of the most-asked YAZS settings sit in three different places, which is most of why they are hard to find.
Quick Answer
Game Speed is an accessibility option added in 0.9.2 that scales gameplay speed from 50% to 200%. The minimap radar and its indicator toggles are in Options then Interface; Auto-Choices is in Options then General. Both of the latter arrived in update 0.9.
Steps
- Open Options and use the Interface tab for the radar minimap, the classic indicators and the Pickup Range Display circle.
- Use the General tab for Auto-Choices, which adds a pause-menu button letting you pick which power-up selection screens resolve at random.
- Look for Game Speed among the accessibility settings; it is a slider from 50% to 200%, not a difficulty setting.
Requirements / Limits
- Game Speed's published range is 50% to 200%, and the developer files it as an accessibility option.
- Pickup Range Display draws the Pickup Range stat as a circle, so it shows the real distance rather than an estimate.
- The minimap radar shows the current area's boundaries and an indicator for the closest Cash pickup; Elite Boss damage-type tag drops show their type on the radar indicator.
- The classic indicators and the map can each be turned off, or both used together.
- Current Team Level is shown in the pause menu and on the power-up selection interfaces.
- In Infinite mode all equipped items can be shown on the gameplay HUD, which matters because that mode has no slot limit.
Common Mistakes
- Hunting for the minimap under General. The radar and its indicators are in the Interface tab, which was added specifically to hold them.
- Hunting for Auto-Choices under Interface. It is a General-tab setting that then surfaces as a pause-menu button.
- Assuming Game Speed is a difficulty slider. The developer presents it as accessibility and publishes nothing about its effect on scaling, achievements or records.
